"B is for Bear at Leinad Services Inc. After School Center for Children, 1031 Flushing Avenue: As a reaction against the recent art world trends towards owls, antlers, trees and taxidermy of various sorts, the artists in this after-school center show (one of BETA Spaces' biggest) take up ursine mythology of massive power, warmth, nobility and mystery in new works in many media. Especially promising are pieces byRachel Phillips, Kent Rogowski, Kyle Garnett (work pictured) and Jackie Hoving."
